  1. Great review. Just what I was looking for - pictures and description. Looking to get one. Thanks again.

  2. I'm going to check this bag out tomorrow. Wonderful information in your review. If I buy, first thing I'll do is wash it to break it in. Great advice.

  3. FYI, My F-3XB's fixed internal dividers extend to the bottom of the bag unlike yours.

  4. Has Tiffen ever gotten back to you on the nyln version having "short" dividers?

  5. I'm sad to report that I have not received any reply to my 2 e-mails I sent to different addresses. :(

  6. Thanks for the extensive review, especially the photos. It's very helpful. I'm sure you've seen that nearly every image of the bag is a wide shot in a tiny jpeg, or like a vaguely helpful illustration like the one on the Helix Camera site.

I also hope you've resolved your short divider dilemma.

  7. I have checked at my local Samy's Camera shop and I am sad to verify what you have noted about the F-3x ballistic lens divider. It's a really clean and super light bag. I'd hate for my equipment knocking against each other like that.

  8. Thanks--this was the most useful review of the F-3X I've seen on the net!

  11. My recently purchased F3XB is the same as the F3X re the internal dividers.

  12. FYI, I recently purchased both the Domke F-2 canvas and ballistic models, and there is a very BIG difference between the two (returned them both). Pockets in nylon model are much smaller and overall fit is much tighter (cramped) compared to the canvas. Domke must manufacture these in two completely different factories, with no regard to consistency. So, your F-3XB suffers the same malady.

  13. Thanks for the informative review! I recently purchased one of these bags in black second-hand. It was a bit dirty and dusty, so I washed it, hoping at the same time that it would begin to take on something of a "weathered" look. Well, I'm pleased to say that it did, even after one washing. I've noticed, though, that the canvas is developing a tiny hole in each of the outside side pockets, so I probably won't wash it a second time in the near future. A few stitches with some heavy thread should stop the holes from growing as well as add to the worn appearance. I haven't removed the logos from the flaps, but that will probably be what I do next. Interestingly, my model has a small chrome snap fastener that closes the outside front pocket. The fastener is embossed with the Domke name, so I'm pretty sure it's original equipment. Perhaps I've got an older model of the bag as I've not seen the snap pictured or mentioned in any other photos or review.

  14. Finally interiour pictures with real camera stuff. Seems to be the right bag for me when travelling light; a camera a couple of lenses and a good book. Thanks for a great review.
