Safari Snorkel installation fiasco - comments
- Well, I got the very same SafSnork at a very good price, so I made it work...cut off the hose extension, drilled thru the brass inserts, used 3 drill screws with rubber washers to attach from the exterior, sealed with black RTV ...easy peasy...took less than an hour.

- I wanted to fit a Safari on my TD5 but didn't drill the holes, just in time. Found out the Safari has no EU homologation, so you cannot legally drive in Europe with one of these fitted.
I ended up buying a Mantec -- rebadged with the Land Rover logo and from the local LR dealer. Unfortunately, also with the LR price tag. It fits well, installing was not a problem.
Fuel consumption went up 50%, however. Yep, that was 4-5 litres/100 km more. Until I opened up the air intake vents properly AND obstructed the two holes at the top. They let in the rain, and mess up airflow within the snorkel top.
Happy snorkelling,
-Alan
