Homemade Contax T3 "soft release"
March 13, 2005In my opinion, Contax T3’s shutter release button is not very well designed. It is completely flat so it is difficult to find intuitively, difficult to use with gloves and since you’ll need to press it into body, this design generates more camera shake, especially if you have big fingers.
About a year ago I modified my T3’s shutter release to be a bit more extruding from the camera body just by attaching little transparent self-adhesive “tab” to it. And it really improves handling of the camera! :)
I used a 8 mm adhesive tab and cut 2 sides flat since the shutter release button has little less depth than 8 mm. It is possible to attach a smaller tab, but then it has also less height. A 10 mm tab may be the best idea.
Here you see attached tab with 2 cut sides. It has been on its place for over a year and has shifted slightly. But no problems with it falling off or somehting like that.
Here you see the modified shutter release to extrude from the body to so it is much easier to use.
And one more view.
