Polybush Comfort installation

February 03, 2005

Despite the fact that polybushes are considered easy to install “at home”, I had hard time to get this right first.

So here we see faulty polybush installation. The problem I was having was that when pressing the tube inside, one half of the bush was forced a bit out of the hole. I used 2 big washers (with sawed air vents) and a coil spring compression tool, but the results were dissapointing. Yes, I used liquid soap to make the tube to slip in better but still no luck.

However, I finally succeeded when I used the same bolt that is used to connect the radius arm to the axle, instead of coil spring compressor. The key seems to be exactly right size of the bolt used, so it does not clack inside the tube as much as my coil spring compressor’s bolt does. So you just need 2 spanners and turn slowly.

So, here we see much better installation, achieved with the system above.
